Professor Yin Zhigang of the School of Electrical Engineering Presents Important Research Review on Soft Transistors and their Electronic Applications at the Innovation

Transistors are the core components of integrated circuits and play a key role in the semiconductor industry.

Yin Zhigang, Professor of the school of Electrical Engineering and State Key Laboratory of Power Transmission Equipment Technology, Chongqing University, is committed to the research of optoelectronic thin film devices such as transistors and sensing technology. Since joining the School of Electrical Engineering at the end of 2022, in cooperation with Professor Yin Mingjie, Professor Zheng Qingdong, Professor Li Jian and other teams, series progress has been made in conductive thin film micro-nano manufacturing and device application, high stability semiconductor thin film, flexible low power transistor, translucent photovoltaic device, etc. (Small 2023, 19, 2301071; Mater. Today Phys. 2023, 37, 101206; Mater. Today Energy 2023, 35, 101322) and received the IAAM Scientist Medal from Sweden in 2023. Recently, Yin Zhigang's research group has focused on organic soft transistor technology to meet the needs of low-energy and intelligent electronic devices in the post-Moore era, in order to break through the limitations of traditional transistors and promote the rapid development of a new generation of electronic devices. In order to construct high-performance soft transistors (FIG. 1A), the team combined years of research accumulation to summarize and analyze the main dielectric engineering strategies to achieve low power organic soft transistors.

These low-power soft transistors and their device arrays and integrated systems will lead to transformative developments in electronics, bringing important opportunities and breakthroughs in flexible wearable electronics, biomedical electronics, neuromorphic electronics and other fields, and also have positive significance in promoting the manufacture of large-scale organic/flexible electronic integrated devices and equipment, software circuits and smart chips. Recently, a paper entitled "Low-power soft transistors triggering revolutionary electronics" was published in The top comprehensive journal The Innovation, with Chongqing University as the only unit. This research is supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, Chongqing Talent Program for Young Top Talents, Chongqing University Hongshen Young Scholars A class introduction of talents and other projects.

The Innovation is a comprehensive English academic journal founded by Young Scientists and Cell Press: it aims to showcase inspiring interdisciplinary discoveries to the scientific community and encourage researchers to focus on the nature of science and the freedom to explore. The journal is ranked in the first region of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, with an impact factor of 33.1 and CiteScore of 23.6 in 2022, making it the top three global comprehensive journals after Nature and Science.
