State Grid Chongqing University Joint Research Center Holds Annual Conference and Technical Exchange Meeting

On the afternoon of March 11, 2023, the annual meeting and technical exchange conference of the State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC) - Chongqing University Joint Research Center was held at Chongqing University. Chen Mei, Director of the Science and Technology Department of SGCC, and Li Jian, member of the Party Committee and Vice President of Chongqing University, attended the exchange meeting. The meeting was chaired by Hu Jianlin, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Electrical Engineering, Chongqing University.

Li Jian, on behalf of the university, warmly welcomed Director Chen Mei and all the leaders and experts to Chongqing University. He expressed gratitude to the State Grid Corporation of China for its strong support to Chongqing University. He pointed out that since the establishment of the SGCC-Chongqing University Joint Research Center, both parties have been committed to pragmatic and high-quality development. He expressed hope that in the future, both sides will deepen cooperation in key platform construction, interdisciplinary integration, industry-education integration, as well as key equipment, and advanced materials manufacturing fields. This will advance fundamental and forward-looking research and development and address the needs of the national energy strategy.

Chen Mei expressed that the interim achievements made by the Joint Research Center are inspiring and demonstrate the strong research capabilities of Chongqing University. She suggested that both sides strengthen cooperation and hoped that Chongqing University and the business departments of State Grid Corporation could establish a close face-to-face demand docking mechanism, focusing on Chongqing University's advantageous characteristic directions, especially the key technologies for disaster monitoring and prevention of ultra-high voltage transmission engineering in extreme environments such as high altitude faced by the Tibetan electricity transmission, and continue to promote in-depth research and the implementation of results, earnestly solving engineering problems and technological innovations that resonate with both parties. She hoped that Chongqing University could leverage its advantages in basic research, promote talent cultivation through university-enterprise cooperation, interdisciplinary integration, and jointly drive the realization of disruptive technologies to ensure China's energy security and achieve the "dual carbon" goals.

At the meeting, Xie Kaigui, the dean of the School of Electrical Engineering at Chongqing University, reported on the annual work summary of the Joint Research Center for 2022 and the key work plan for 2023. Professors Jiang Xingliang, Sima Wenxia, Liao Ruijin, and Hu Bo from the School of Electrical Engineering at Chongqing University respectively introduced the future major innovative directions of new power systems.

Participants engaged in in-depth discussions on the subsequent organization and management of the Joint Research Center and further scientific research cooperation between the two parties. Leaders and experts at the meeting actively discussed topics related to the construction of new power systems, including intelligent sensing technology, electricity market operation, wideband oscillation modeling and suppression, domestication of independently developed chips and software, and more. They actively offered suggestions on the strategic layout, key technology breakthroughs, transformation of research achievements, and sharing of advantageous resources of the Joint Research Center, clarifying the scientific research goals oriented towards practical needs. This exchange promoted organized scientific research cooperation between the two parties, forming a synergy in basic research fields, and providing strong support for the realization of China's "dual carbon" goals and national energy security.
